Outreach

Medina Area Association of Churches (MAAC)

St. John’s Episcopal Church partners with the Medina Area Association of Churches (MAAC) in a number of outreach programs, including the Food Pantry, holiday boxes for those in need and the Clothing Depot. The organization has served Medina and the surrounding area for over 40 years and offers Lenten Luncheons, high school scholarships and Vacation Bible School among its programs.

For more than four decades, the Medina Area Association of Churches (MAAC), including St. John’s Episcopal, have been running The Clothing Depot, an effort that has helped connect Christians and also provide low-cost clothing to the community. MAAC is also responsible for the Medina Clergy Fellowship, the MAAC Christmas Program and the Medina Area Christian Theater ministries, as well as several outreach programs such as vacation bible school, Lenten luncheons, pastoral counseling and more.

The Clothing Depot is open the public. The building is located at 324 Catherine St. in Medina. The entrance for The MAAC Clothing Depot is in back. The hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, and Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7. To volunteer at the MAAC Clothing Depot, call Joanne Arnett at (585) 798-1224. The depot also accepts donated items.

St. John’s Linen Closet

St. John’s hosts a Linen Closet, supplying the Genesee Orleans Ministry of Concern with clean, mended linens in mix-and-match sets for delivery with beds and distribution to individuals and families as needed. The Ministry of Concern coordinates with other agencies to offer emergency services for the most in need in the community, including assistance with some utility bills and limited assistance with emergency shelter. The furniture program provides used, working furniture and appliances, including free pick up and delivery. The Just Friends program “helps youth to develop skills to succeed in work and life.”

St. John’s church works with the Orleans County Ministry of Concern by providing bedding linens as donated beds become available for those in need. We gladly accept linens for twin, double and queen sized beds in usable condition. We will launder them and repair as needed. We are especially glad of fitted bottom sheets. Please note the Ministry will not deliver baby items, therefore any received at St. John’s will be donated to another charity. We are happy to pass along blankets, pillows and mattress covers. We greatly appreciate all donations.

Collections/Donations for our Community

St. John’s also collects school supplies each fall for the local elementary school.

Pet supplies are gathered and delivered to PAWS and other area animal shelters.

We accept donations to be distributed to all of the listed organizations.
