Search for Next Bishop is Underway
The search for the next bishop of the Diocese of Western New York is underway.
Teams have been formed for both selection and transition. Our deacon, Robin Kozlowski, will head the Transition Team.
Bishop Steven Lane has been elected as Bishop Provisional for the diocese. Bishop Steve, a native of LeRoy, NY, is a seasoned church leader known for his commitment to justice, peace, and reconciliation. His election took place at the Diocesan Convention, held October 10-11 in Niagara Falls. He has served in a similar role most recently in the Diocese of Rochester and will provide continuity for the diocese while we search for our next Diocesan Bishop, a search that may take 18 months or more. Learn more about Bishop Lane.
This is as a result of the vote held on May 3 when a Special Convention was held to determine whether the two-diocese Partnership should remain in place. The vote was a resounding no. The Diocese of Western New York is now in the process of choosing a bishop separately from the Diocese of NWPA.
